This OSD-only decision is made from higher up, not my fight. If it eases your mind at all, my direct supervisors are in 100% agreement with what I'm trying to do. That sounded wicked good on paper, but the install would never work when it came time to run it - either "product key cannot be read in unattend file" or "no available image" prior to what would be the initial partition customization screen. The other way I already tried to this was getting an 1809 Pro ISO from the Windows image downloading tool, using some scripts to "raise" the edition to Enterprise, and then spin that up into NTLite and create a new iso out of that. I'm not even sure if it's possible to do it this way. I'm trying to just jump in but don't feel like there's enough direction and there's a lot of ways to do this wrong. Can I use my 1803 install.wim (which has ntlite's work in it) to install 1809? Lastly, I'm unclear on where my ntlite customization falls into this - if at all. In looking at my 1803 installation, if I run sysprep and select Audit Mode w/ Generalize, I'm still just booting into our local admin account - not the "default" account. So why do I come here instead of jumping in? I don't see any mention in anything I've read or watched that would explain how to this specifically the way I'd need to.įor example, I don't have a vanilla 1809 install usb to boot into and Ctrl+Shift+F3. I understand it, but yet to really dirty my hands with it. I've never used sysprep, I read a lot about how to do it. We get a lot of different models though.so I looked into SysPrep. I'd update it to 1809 and perhaps somehow use that to image other machines. So my idea is.I wanted to try using a stock 1803 image that we have here, maybe using a vm or whatever. So I want to continue to do things our way.Īnother important note: I can update systems under 1809 to 1809 via sccm. I've clocked this, it's no comparison, our deployment is multiple times faster than OSD. Now that 1809 is approved for use around here, the guys upstairs say no more ISO's, you're doing OSD only. And since it was just for us here, I was able to tailor it specifically for us. I used NTLite to customize how they install to get a smooth, unattended setup. The ISO's they provided us were standard Enterprise ones, they actually never modified them - so I did. My company is no longer providing ISO's for us to deploy computers with. ![]()
